- 10A new website for Lime’s next chapter
I have been in marketing long enough to experience two major transformations.
The first was the move from traditional advertising into digital marketing. I helped lead Lime through that change as websites, search engines, online advertising, social media, ecommerce and analytics reshaped how businesses attracted customers.
Now, another transformation is underway.
Artificial intelligence is changing how people search, compare businesses, evaluate products and decide who to trust. It is also making many marketing tasks faster and less expensive to execute.
But the biggest change is not simply the arrival of another tool.
It is that all the dots now need to connect.
Business owners should not need to speak the language of agencies
The marketing industry often speaks to business owners in acronyms.
SEO. PPC. SEM. CRM. Automation. Analytics. AI visibility.
Most owners should not need to understand every term. Marketing and technology are not their core business.
What they need to know is much simpler:
- Are enough people finding and recognizing the business?
- Are we generating qualified leads?
- Are those leads becoming customers?
- Are sales improving?
- Do we know what is working?
- Can we see where opportunities are being lost?
In practical terms, most businesses need one or more of three outcomes:
More visibility. Better leads. More sales.
The problem is that agencies and technology providers often sell the pieces separately.
One company builds the website. Another manages advertising. Someone else handles search visibility. A different provider installs the CRM. Social media runs on its own. Sales has a separate process, and reporting comes from several platforms that do not tell the same story.
The business owner is left responsible for connecting everything, even though connecting everything is not their area of expertise.
More leads are not always the answer
Over the years, we have repeatedly seen businesses generating a meaningful number of inquiries while still feeling hungry for leads.
Sometimes the real problem was not a lack of opportunities.
The problem was what happened after the opportunity arrived.
A form submission sat in a shared inbox. A phone call came in but was never connected to its marketing source. Leads were recorded differently by different people. Marketing reported one set of results while the sales team had a completely different view.
In one common situation, a business receives many more phone calls than online forms. But because the calls are not properly tracked, the reports create the impression that organic search or paid campaigns are not generating results.
The leads are there.
The visibility into those leads is not.
Without that visibility, a business can easily make the wrong decision. It may reduce an effective campaign, increase spending in the wrong place or ask for more leads when the first priority should be improving follow-up.
“More marketing cannot repair a disconnected lead-management process.”
The opportunity can disappear after the hardest work is done
We have seen the same problem in ecommerce and online ordering.
A business invests money to attract a highly qualified new customer. The customer visits the website, creates an account, submits the required information and completes an approval process.
The difficult part appears to be done.
But after approval, nobody follows up properly. There is no reminder, onboarding sequence or clear next step. The customer never places a first order.
That is not simply an ecommerce problem or an email marketing problem.
It is a gap between marketing, technology, onboarding, sales and internal processes.
The business paid to create the opportunity and successfully moved the customer through several important steps. Yet the value was lost before the first transaction.
When good leads and customers are difficult and expensive to generate, businesses cannot afford to leave these opportunities on the table.
The full path needs to be visible
Before spending more to generate additional inquiries, a business should be able to answer:
- Where did each inquiry come from?
- Did it arrive by phone, form, email, chat or another channel?
- Who became responsible for it?
- How quickly did someone respond?
- Was the opportunity qualified?
- What happened next?
- Did it become a customer or sale?
- Where are opportunities most commonly being lost?
The complete picture becomes visible only when the website, marketing channels, phone calls, forms, CRM, sales process and reporting are connected.
Once those connections are in place, the business can use real information to decide what to improve next.
This cannot be treated as a one-time project. Technology and customer behaviour are changing too quickly.
The work needs to operate as a continuous improvement cycle:
Measure what is happening. Find the largest gap. Improve it. Review the result. Use what you learn to guide the next decision.
See how the Lime Growth System worksAI makes execution faster, but judgment more valuable
Artificial intelligence can now help create copy, images, research, reports, analysis and marketing materials at a speed that would have been impossible only a few years ago.
That does not make experience and strategy less important.
It makes them more important.
I often compare AI to a Ferrari.
Putting a powerful car in the hands of an inexperienced driver does not automatically produce a great result. The driver may never use the car’s potential. In the wrong situation, all that power can create more risk.
The technology matters, but so does the person deciding where to go, which route to take and how to handle the vehicle.
AI is similar.
A business can have access to powerful tools without having a clear objective, an integrated plan or the experience needed to apply them properly.
The real advantage will not come from simply having AI.
It will come from combining business understanding, marketing expertise, technology, data and experienced judgment.

The way customers find businesses is changing too
Business owners are hearing about AI every day, but many are still unsure what it means for their company.
Some see it mainly as a threat. Others are experimenting with individual tools without a broader plan. Many understand that something important is happening but do not know where to begin.
At the same time, customers are increasingly using conversational search and AI platforms to research problems, compare providers and ask for recommendations.
That means a business’s website can no longer operate separately from its content, social media, search visibility, reputation, technical foundation and overall authority.
These elements need to support the same story.
It is no longer enough to publish content or appear occasionally in search results. A business needs to be understood, trusted, mentioned and, most importantly, recommended.
That requires coordination.
Learn about Visibility and Authority SystemsLime is evolving again
Lime successfully experienced the shift from traditional advertising to digital marketing.
Now, we are evolving into a marketing and growth agency built for the AI era.
This does not mean abandoning the marketing work that continues to produce results. Websites, search, advertising, social media, email and content remain important.
The change is in how we connect and manage them.
We are bringing together:
- Marketing and brand visibility
- Websites and ecommerce
- Lead generation
- Phone and form tracking
- CRM and lead management
- Sales follow-up
- Automation
- AI
- Reporting and analytics
- Business intelligence
- Process improvement
In plain language, Lime helps businesses get found, generate opportunities, manage those opportunities properly and understand what is producing results.
Sometimes a client’s biggest need is visibility.
Sometimes it is better-qualified leads.
Sometimes it is stronger ecommerce sales.
Sometimes the largest opportunity is fixing what happens after the lead or customer arrives.
Often, several of these problems are connected.
Our job is to understand the full business situation, use real data rather than assumptions and build a plan around what that client actually needs.
One accountable team connecting the whole path
Not every traditional marketing agency understands CRM systems, business integrations, automation and internal processes.
At the same time, not every technology provider deeply understands marketing, customer acquisition, sales and brand strategy.
Lime works at the intersection of these areas.
We connect strategy, marketing, technology, creative work, automation, analytics and business operations through one accountable team.
That gives a growing business one partner responsible for the full path rather than leaving the owner to coordinate several disconnected specialists.
Lime celebrated 20 years in 2025, and I bring more than 25 years of experience across marketing, technology, ecommerce, franchise growth, business systems and operations.
That combination gives us a strong foundation to help franchise and multi-location organizations, law firms, high-value service businesses, ecommerce companies and product brands prepare for what comes next.

Our new website is one visible part of this evolution.
It reflects how we now think about visibility, lead generation, sales, technology, automation, AI and reporting as connected parts of one growth system.
The tools will keep changing.
The platforms will keep changing.
The way customers search and make decisions will keep changing.
Our responsibility is to keep learning, keep connecting the dots and help our clients take advantage of what the new era makes possible.
This article is the beginning of that conversation.
